Melbourne: La Parisienne Pates

290 Lygon Street
Carlton

Bonjour Madam! Fromage, tourine, venison, chorizo, truffle? If like me, you're now feeling a little peckish, La Parisienne Pates on Lygon Street is the place for you. Melbourne's only charcuterie lies in the heart of lygon street and is buzzing along nicely.

Excellent service, the staff are friendly and knowledgable. A large assortment of cheeses, pates and sausages is complemented by a range of readdy made french style meals. I am assured the tarts are amazing, but it's the rabbit and thyme sausages that will have me coming back again.

A fine slice of France in the heart of little Italy...

Melbourne: Number 5

5 Centre Place
Melbourne.

Unpretentious little cafe in one of Melbournes hippest laneways, Centre Place. WGSN did their street fashion report for Melbourne here, so we know it's cool. Ooh la.

Has a great casual vibe for a saturday afternoon, exemplified by the "blue singlet" clad waiter. You can get cosy and lounge inside, or take a cube outside, perfect for watching the misty Melbourne rain fall on the passing crowd.

Strong, smooth coffee for $2.50, Brunetti's should be ashamed.
